Nothing ends a crew faster than an unfair split. Here’s how cuts work and how to keep everyone happy.

Try it: our heist cut calculator shows what everyone gets as you move the numbers.

How cuts work

  • The leader sets each player’s cut as a percentage before the final job.
  • All cuts together must be exactly 100%.
  • In most GTA Online heists every player must get at least 15%, so the leader can’t keep it all.
  • The percentage is of the final take, which can be lower than the advertised maximum if things go wrong during the job.

Three fair ways to split

1. Even split

Everyone gets the same. With 4 players that’s 25% each. Best for: friends, and crews that rotate who leads.

2. Leader bonus

The leader gets a bit more, because they usually paid for the setup and did the prep missions. For example 40 / 20 / 20 / 20. Best for: when one person did all the preparation.

3. Leader max

Everyone else gets the minimum (often 15%) and the leader takes the rest. With 4 players: 55 / 15 / 15 / 15. Best for: random players you met in a lobby, where you agreed beforehand.

Always agree before the final job. Changing cuts after people have played for an hour is how arguments start.

Quick example

A $1,000,000 take with 4 players:

SplitLeaderEach other player
Even (25/25/25/25)$250,000$250,000
Leader bonus (40/20/20/20)$400,000$200,000
Leader max (55/15/15/15)$550,000$150,000

Will this work in GTA 6 Online?

Rockstar hasn’t shown how heists work in GTA 6 Online yet. The calculator uses only the take and the percentages you enter, so if the rules change you just adjust the minimum.

Quick answers

Who sets the heist cuts?

The heist leader, on the planning screen before the final job.

Can the leader take 100%?

Not with other players in the crew: most GTA Online heists force a minimum cut for each player, usually 15%.
