How not to get banned

GTA Online money takes time to earn, so shortcuts are tempting. Some of them cost you the whole account. Here’s what to avoid, based on how Rockstar has handled GTA Online over the years.

The high-risk list

What	Risk	Why
Mod menus / cheating software	Very high	Breaks the terms of service. Rockstar has banned accounts for this.
Buying money or “modded accounts”	Very high	Often comes from hacked accounts or exploits. Money can be removed and the account suspended.
Money glitches	High	Rockstar has removed glitched money and punished repeated abuse.
Taking money from modders	Medium	Players have reported money wipes after a modder “dropped” cash on them.
Story-mode cheat codes	None	Built into the game, and only work offline.

How to stay safe

1. Never install anything that changes the game or “unlocks” money.
2. Don’t buy money, accounts or boosts from websites, Discord servers or TikTok comments.
3. Leave a session if someone is dropping money or teleporting people.
4. Skip glitches. If something duplicates money or items, assume it can get your account reset.
5. Protect your account with two-step verification on your Rockstar Games account.

The safe way to get rich

Plain old grinding, done smart: pick the activity with the best money per hour, fill cooldowns with a second one, and play bonus weeks. Slower than a glitch, but nobody can take it away.
